Austin, Texas may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of Carnaval, but for the last 30 years, the city has been throwing Carnaval Brasileiro, one of the largest Carnaval parties outside of Brazil proper. On February 3rd, throngs of people will flock to Austin’s Palmer Events Center for a Mardi Gras-style evening filled with wild costumes, non-stop dancing, live Brazilian music, and perhaps most importantly (at least to the average Texan), tons of ice cold beer.
